Earlier this week we went to Triberg in the famed Black Forest region of Germany and the home of cuckoo clocks. We had a such a wonderful time exploring this little town. Such a beautiful place to spend an afternoon wondering the shops and hiking the trails, something we plan to do once the weather warms up again.
The inner workings of the largest cuckoo clock.
The run off from the waterfall. This runs down the entire hill of Triberg, and eventually meets the Rhine River.
One of the beautiful hand carved clocks.
You get so many gorgeous views from the Ferris wheel. Can you believe so much beauty is held in one small town?
After wondering around and eating way too much, so many great vendors out for the end of year celebrations, it was time for the main event.
The fire show atop the waterfall.
This was such a captivating show. We enjoyed every second of it. If you find yourself in Germany between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, this is a must see show. It goes on hourly till 9 PM after the sun sets. We recommend getting there early or joining a tour like we did. By 6:30 all tickets were sold for the night.
A small video clip I shot of the show.
This was easily one of the best trips we did last year (crazy I can call it last year already and it was only a few days ago).
To top it all off we were surprised by the fireworks show they put on to close out the night. This was one of those days that will stay ingrained in our minds for years to come.
