Sausage Pizza

Sausage PizzaOne of my favorite things to do is make my own pizza. It’s super easy and it’s ready before you can order one and have it delivered (maybe even before you can carry it out). One of my big secrets with my own pizza is how I prep the crust. I create my own herb blend and mix it with melted butter. After brushing it on I grate some Parmesan cheese over top.

Pizza dough (we use the Pillsbury can)

3 Italian sausage links uncased

1 can of tomato sauce

1 bag of mozzarella cheese

3 Tbsp of melted butter butter

Dried oregano

Dried basil

Dried thyme

Garlic powder

Parmesan cheese

Grease your baking sheet and preheat the oven to 425 degrees

Heat a frying pan over medium high heat

Begin cooking the sausage and grinding it as it cooks (it will take about ten minutes for it all to cook through)

Transfer sausage to a plate with paper towels to absorb the grease while you prep the crust

Combine your melted butter with the oregano, basil, garlic powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper (I play with the ratio regularly so add it according to your own tastes)

Brush the crust with the butter and herb mixture

Lightly sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the crust

Remove the amount of tomato sauce you would like to use and create the same herb blend in the sauce and spread it over the crust

Add the mozzarella cheese, followed by the sausage

Bake for 15 minutes
