Custard Pie

I LOVE custard. It is the best thing ever invented and so easy to make. With six ingredients and an hour to spare, you can make the most amazing dessert.

4 eggs

3/4 of a cup of sugar

1 tsp of vanilla extract

A small pinch of salt (about 1/4 of a tsp)

2 and 1/2 cups of whole milk

1 frozen pie crust

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees

Set your pie crust to begin thawing

In a sauce pan add the milk and bring to a scolding temperature (180 degrees)

As the milk heats, combine three eggs, the sugar, salt, and vanilla

Use the egg white from the fourth egg to wash the crust so it does not get soggy and will become golden brown

Once the milk is done, slowly pour into the egg mixture while stirring the entire time (this keeps the eggs from cooking)

Place in the oven and bake for 45 to 55 minutes (a knife should come out clean when the pie is done)

Cool on a rack or vented surface

Be sure to refrigerate any left overs
